Salary: £26,000 – £26,750 per annum, DOE
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Old Park Meadow is a natural final resting place and nature reserve full of wildflowers and young woodland between Chelmsford and Great Dunmow. 

It is a space visiting family and friends can return to and enjoy together. We offer natural burial and ash funerals, services, and wakes, ensuring the experience is as efficient, comfortable, and stress-free as possible and ensure nothing is overlooked. 

We support the local community with coffee mornings, bereavement cafes and fundraising for local charities.

Old Park Meadow Natural Burial Ground are looking to add a Bereavement Administrator and Adviser to our team!

Bereavement Administrator and Adviser – The Role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing general administration and bereavement support in the running of Old Park Meadow Natural Burial Ground.
  • Providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders in an appropriate and sensitive manner.
  • Dealing with all paperwork required for burials, ash interments, memorial applications, general queries, spreadsheet updates, bookings, and financial transactions.
  • Attending the Chapel or Graveside when required to meet with the Funeral Director, bereaved family members and other attendees. 
  • Learning to operate the media system and computer bereavement package.
  • Preparing the venue for services and wakes which includes setting out chairs and tables, preparing refreshments and clearing away and memorial installations.

Often the first point of contact, our Bereavement Administrator and Adviser needs to have excellent communication and organisational skills and be willing to deal with a wide variety of visitors.

This is a physically active role, with the need to assist outside with the installation of memorials and other maintenance around the grounds if required.

Are you a motivated, caring, hardworking and competent person who would like to join our small team.

This is a very interesting position with a wide range of work duties associated to it.

You will need to be an excellent administrator with strong communication skills and have a flexible approach to the start and finish times of your working day.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate caring and compassionate behaviours in the environment of a Natural Burial Ground.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following abilities and skills:       

  • To be able to demonstrate caring and compassionate behaviours in the environment of a Natural Burial Ground.
  • Demonstrable ability and experience in administration, record keeping, computer and organisational skills operating within the standard Microsoft office environment including excel. 
  • An ability to have a flexible approach to turn their hand to any ad hoc tasks.
  • An ability to take direction and work on their own initiative or part of a team.
  • Previous administration experience essential and the ability to maintain accurate record with excellent attention to details.
